No Harm
I have undertaken to strive towards having a positive impact on society through my specific skills set. This means as a communications professional, I am selective about what I communicate & promote.
I will not contribute towards any business or cause which somehow inflicts harm on the mind, body, soul or environment. I will strive to achieve this to the best of my ability. God Willing.
These Include:
- Any products harmful to the body like intoxicants, tobacco etc.
- Any information harmful to the mind
- Any practices or beliefs harmful to the spirit
- Anything which harms the environment
This has of course left me in a situation where I have very limited opportunities and have struggled to find formal employment where I can completely avoid contributing to these, but it has allowed me to grow as an independent and principled individual making a small but I feel significant difference.
I believe in creating solutions & communications which are engaging, informative, rewarding and which have a positive effect on society.
I believe that too many ethically conscious people unnecessarily compromise their beliefs by separating between what they do or believe in their private lives and what they do in their professional lives.
Islamic Etiquettes which Benefit Everyone
My approach has it’s foundations in my belief as a Muslim, and taken from the words of the Prophet Muhammad(p) who said:
“The best of people are those that bring most benefit to the rest of mankind.”
The Prophet Muhammad is also Quoted to have said
“There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.”
Whether it be morals, ethics, social behavior or environmental awareness we have a duty as humans to be friendly to other humans and to have a positive effect on those things which affect the lives of humans ie. the environments and societies we inhabit. Though I derive the majority of my ethics from the Islamic belief system, the principles benefit everyone muslim and non-muslim alike, whether they realise this or not. If implemented holistically we would create a much healthier global society.
I do not claim to have achieved any degree of perfection in this mission, but I do strive daily to improve and move closer to the goal.
How can I be of benefit to you?
