This is the best resource I have come across whilst researching the topics of sustainability and eco-friendliness. In their own words:
“The Global Development Research Center is a virtual organization that carries out initiatives in education, research and practices, in the spheres of environment, urban, community and information, and at scales that are effective.”
The content on this site is split into 5 major spheres – Environment, Urban, Community, Economy and Information. All these topics have been thoroughly researched and there is an ocean of information which is very well categorized for all levels of readers. Dip your minds into this cyber resource for a wealth of knowledge on issues relating to the development of the future of humans and the environment at www.gdrc.org
I was particularly interested in their section on sustainable development
“Sustianable development is maintaining a delicate balance between the human need to improve lifestyles and feeling of well-being on one hand, and preserving natural resources and ecosystems, on which we and future generations depend.”
Where they start off providing definitions and allow the user to start from the basics and then delve deeper into the topic as their needs or understanding requires. This is basically the way the entire site seems to be set up –http://www.gdrc.org/sustdev/definitions.htmlÂ
Have a squiz and let me know what other juicy resources you are linked with out there. The Pen is indeed mightier than the sword.
